George Hamilton 1V
We have an exiting week this week with a concert on Thursday (13th May) with George Hamilton 1V. This is the second time he has visited the chapel and, if last time is anything to go by, it was a very popular event enjoyed by everyone who came. If you haven't got your tickets yet please contact Clive as soon as possible to ensure you won't be disappointed.
Because of the concert we won't be having Alpha this week but will have the final session next Wednesay (19th May). This has been a fantastic course and has been of much encouragement to everyone - organisers, members of the fellowship and visitors alike. We will soon be planning the next course so look out for details if you want to come and join us.
The old kitchen is now in the last stages of decoration so will soon be in use as minister's vestry/office/creche/quiet room.

Alpha (Prayer)
It amazes me how, in a quiet way, the living God meets with us and things change.
In looking at Prayer last Night it was clear a few were really being spoken to be the Living God. Thats awesome - but what of next week?
We'll be looking at the Word of God - i.e. the way God speaks directly to us. It is going to be good!

Alpha
We've had 2 Alpha's now. 3rd this week (Mar 24th).
It is a great chance for everyone to get involved - even if you don't believe in Christianity. It certainly opens everyones eyes to the possibility. We start at 7:00, finish at 9:15 - but the time in the middle doesn't seem to take but 30 minutes!
It's good.

First Alpha
Just got back from our first Alpha course evening. We had 19 people which was a really good start - the food was great too! There is still plenty of time to join in with us if you want to come along - we start at 7pm on a Wednesday with a meal and followed by a DVD for about half an hour and then we break into groups for discussion. Don't worry if you can't make every session, just drop in when you can, we'd love to see you.

Youth Conference Reunion
This year the Youth Conference Reunion was held at Ely. The actual journey to get there was 4 hours but upon arriving there, it always seems to make me smile. It was good to see some old faces as well as some new. On the Friday it was just a catch up time for all of us.
After a few hours sleep, Saturday arrived, and we had a big day ahead of us. The preacher, Dan, was talking to us about the Power of Christ, and the activities we did in the afternoon certainly showed us this. The three activities were litter picking, giving out chocolates on the streets and doing a treasure hunt. The group I was in was the treasure hunt. What happens is that you pray to God to give you specific words or phrases and see if they match to any of the columns you have. The columns were place, name, appearance, illness and other. They you go out to these places and try to find these people. We found five people on the street and we prayed for them. It really opened my eyes to how God works through people.
On the Sunday,the inevitable happened - it snowed. We had to walk from the church where we were staying to the school where the service was held. After the service we had lunch with the members of the church. After this we returned to the Church and we parted our ways back across the country. It was truly a memorable Youth Conference. Thanks to all the committee that helped to make this conference fantastic.

Busy Week
We have had a busy few days this week. On Wednesday we had the final Prayer meeting before Alpha starts next week and discussed practical arrangements. It sounds as if there may be several outside people coming along which would be wonderful.

Starting to Blog
Hi everyone, thought it would be good for Ebley Chapel to have it's own Blog so we can let folk know what we are doing in a slightly more informal way than the main website so here goes!
We a
re all really excited at the moment as we are about to start on a series of Alpha courses with the first one starting just a couple of weeks away. We begin on Wednesday 3rd March at 7pm with an informal meal and discussion when anyone can come along and ask questions and get a 'taster' of what the course has to offer. It will last for about 12 weeks and we are using the DVD's followed by group discussions. As is usual with most Ebley events, food will be on the agenda! Even if you don't think you can make every evening you would be most welcome to come along and join us whenever you can.
At last we have almost finished the building work and renovations that started over a year ago. We have just had the electricty upgrated and all that remains is to plaster and decorate the old kitchen, soon to be office/vestry/quiet room, and touch up on paintwork around the large halls. So much has been achieved that anyone who has not visited for a while may not recognise us. We now have a lovely building and fantastic kitchen (food again!) to enable us to reach out to the local community and invite them home.
Our aim this spring and summer is to keep on top of the maintenance of the graveyard, replace the main doors and either repair or replace some of the windows. The car park may need to be resurfaced and the outside wall repointing so there is plenty to be done.
